Dolphins and Dugongs

Less than half a day’s drive south of Carnarvon you will find Monkey Mia and Shark Bay

Since the early 1960’s the wild dolphins have been visiting the shores of Monkey Mia.

These days you have the opportunity to see them in the dolphin interaction area and if you are lucky enough to be chosen from the crowd, you can feed them during the morning feeding sessions held each day On average, seven dolphins that visit the beach of Monkey Mia each day.

The shallow waters of Shark Bay are also home to about 10% of the world’s population of dugongs. You will be engaged by the shy nature of these intriguing creatures.

If you discover Shark Bay by boat, be sure to look out for some of the 6000 marine turtles living in the waters.
